Go Thru Sermon

Feb 8, 2026    Pastor Selwyn

This powerful message confronts us with a truth we often try to avoid: there are no shortcuts in the Christian journey. Drawing from 2 Timothy chapter 2, we're reminded that God examines our altars and requires pure worship, intentional devotion, and sacrificial love. The message challenges us to 'go through' rather than go around, skip ahead, or retreat from the difficulties we face. Paul's letter to Timothy presents four compelling metaphors—the soldier who avoids entanglements, the athlete who follows the rules, the farmer who works diligently, and the disciple who doesn't go it alone. Each image reveals that endurance isn't optional; it's essential. We're living in a final stretch before Christ's return, and this isn't the time to be disqualified by cutting corners or compromising our faith. The most striking insight is that we can win every preliminary race yet still lose at the finish line if we don't endure according to God's standards. This message calls us back to accountability, to being our brother's keeper, and to staying focused on the true mission—winning the lost—rather than getting entangled in cultural battles and political divisions. The path to our promised land requires us to go through the Red Sea, not around it, because that's where God parts the waters and drowns our enemies.
