As You Go Devotional
The sermon explored the powerful command to "go" that Jesus gives His followers, examining how faith often requires us to move before we see the complete answer to our prayers. Through the story of the ten lepers in Luke 17:11-19, we discovered that God sometimes calls us to step out in faith while we're still in process, still healing, and still being formed. The message challenged common misconceptions about "readiness" and reminded us that the formation of Christ within us is the work of the Holy Spirit, not merely human assessment or mentorship. Our obedience and alignment with God's word carries more power than our own concept of being fully prepared.
Takeaways:
Faith precedes the miracleThe lepers were healed "as they went" - not before they obeyed. Sometimes God calls us to move in faith while our circumstances still look unchanged, trusting that transformation happens in our obedience.
The Holy Spirit grants what mentorship cannotWhile discipleship is valuable, certain things like boldness, anointing, and spiritual formation come directly from the Holy Spirit. We must resist the temptation to wait for human approval when God has already spoken.
Your faith is sufficientJesus reminded His disciples that faith the size of a mustard seed is enough. We often think we need "supersized faith" when God is simply asking for obedient faith - taking the next step He's revealed.
As we move forward this week, let's ask ourselves: What has God called me to do that I've been postponing? Where have I allowed self-doubt or the opinions of others to keep me from obeying His voice? May we have the courage to go when He says go, trusting that His presence goes before us and His grace sustains us along the way.
