When No One Asks for New

* We generally are creatures of comfort.

* Once we become accustomed to something and comfortable with it, very few of us will chase after the idea of something new.

* New takes work

* New requires effort using muscles we’re not used to using

* New requires clear articulation of the new direction or new path

* New has to make a case for why it needs to exist

* New must prove its validity constantly so it won’t be ignored

* New is often unwelcome

* New is often criticized as “wrong” or not ready for prime time.

* New is not always celebrated, where as “old” will always have a birthday

* New will often have an exciting honeymoon only to go through a period of hardship to prove that it can be as strong as “old.”

* New is often easy to detect but hard to swallow

Such is the nature of the New Wine that Jesus was talking about. And Jesus said, people rarely ask for new wine.
